Adopt a rescue dog or cat in Islamabad
Adopt, don't shop. Every rupee spent on a bred puppy is a rupee not spent on a dog already waiting. Our rescues arrive vaccinated, sterilised, dewormed and desperate to belong to someone. Adoption from Strays Home is always free.

Our available animals change constantly, so we post them where we can update fastest: our Instagram. Every post shows the animal's story, temperament, age and health status.
Seen one you love? Send us a message with their name and we'll tell you everything — including the difficult parts. We would much rather you say no now than return them later.

✅ We're looking for adopters who
- Will keep the animal indoors or in a securely fenced space
- Understand a rescue may need weeks to settle and trust
- Can afford routine food and veterinary care
- Have agreement from everyone living in the home
- See this as a 10–15 year commitment, not a phase
🚫 We won't adopt out for
- Guarding, breeding, fighting or resale — ever
- Chaining or permanent rooftop/balcony confinement
- Gifts or surprises for someone who hasn't agreed
- Households where a previous pet was abandoned or given away
We reserve the right to decline any application without giving a reason. The animal's safety comes first.

Adoption FAQs
Does adoption cost anything?
No. Adoption is free. If you'd like to make a donation towards the animal's past medical care you're very welcome to, but it is never a condition.
Can I adopt if I live outside Islamabad?
Often yes, within Pakistan, provided we can complete a home check (in person or by video) and arrange safe transport. Tell us your city in the form.
Are your dogs "pedigree" breeds?
Mostly they are Pakistani street dogs and mixes — and they are extraordinary. Occasionally we rescue an abandoned breed dog too. We match on temperament, not appearance.
What if it doesn't work out?
Talk to us first — most problems in the first month are normal settling issues we can help with. If it genuinely can't work, the animal comes back to us. Never rehome or release them yourself.
Can I adopt a cat?
Yes. We rescue and rehome cats and kittens as well as dogs. Cats are usually adopted as indoor-only.

Foster for a few weeks, sponsor an animal monthly, or simply donate what a takeaway costs.
